Purdue Statisticians Developing AI/ML Methods for Additive Manufacturing

04-08-2019

A research team in Purdue University's Department of Statistics is developing machine learning methods for smarter geometric accuracy control in additive manufacturing systems. Assistant Professor of Statistics Arman Sabbaghi and his PhD student Raquel de Souza Borges Ferreira, along with Purdue Data Analyst Kevin Amstutz, have developed an exciting new computer application based on their methods that possesses far-reaching potential for high-quality additive manufacturing.

"This has applications for many industries, such as aerospace, where exact geometric dimensions are crucial to ensure reliability and safety," said Sabbaghi, who led the research team at Purdue with funding by the National Science Foundation.

For more information about the team's research, please see the article in Purdue Today.

By working towards advancements in artificial intelligence, the team's research aligns with Purdue's Giant Leaps celebration.
